October, 2003 was the fourth annual Everest Award ceremony with special speaker Gary Cullen. Gary climbed Mt. Everest with one arm and represented a group of climbers with various disabilities that had joined him on the trek to the final ascent. Gary told their most inspiring story and presented a slide show of the trek made in May of 2003. He is the only person with one arm to ever summit the world's highest peak. Gary has challenged both children and adults to reach beyond what they perceive as their limitations and to succeed.

Award certificates were given by: Tom McClintock, California Senator; Lois Capps, U.S. Congress; Hannah-Beth Jackson, California Assembly; and Abel Maldonado, California Assembly. A black marble, engraved trophy was presented by the Everest Award committee. Thank you to all who made the awards night magical and continue to help me climb my mountain!
